Hayden's surgery, the Completion Fontan, is scheduled for Monday, March 30th. He will have a pre-op appointnent on Friday, March 27th. All at Hopkins.
We will discuss the surgery with him in the week or so prior to his pre-op.
Rob and I are ready. We are feeling really good about this and are slowly arranging our lives around it. Ya know, making sure we all have haircuts before surgery ;-) I am not spinning, yet...
We are slowly letting everyone know and will send out a mass e-mail as it gets a bit closer. We so appreciate the kind words and thoughts and prayers that have been offered. It means so much to us to be surrouned by so many caring people.
We are trying to " get things done" in March. Rob is in Myrtle Beach, Hayden is on an adventure with Pop and Grammy and I am , well , I am at work molding the minds of the future or something. We are painting our family room , ordering carpet, getting a new TV and waiting for our new furniture to come in. We are also tying to get in some skiing before it is officially Spring (not me- just watching). Rob and I are preparing for the relay portion of the Frederick Marathon.
Will post again soon...

And the ball is rolling
Hayden had a Cardiology check-up yesterday. It went just fine. He actually seems to like these appointments. Some of you know that this is a HUGE shift from when he was younger. Back then, he'd cry and scream and gag. Once he threw up all over me and I had to take off my shirt and wear Rob's jacket. ( Not a great fit. I resembled a flasher. Nice look.)Anyway, he was excited to go and even had his own questions to ask Dr. Brenner. ( He was quite satisfied with the answers he got.) He adores DR. Brenner, as do we. He gets my sarcasm which is always a plus since I become more sarcastic and abrasive when I am nervous. ( I know, this is utterly shocking)
We are gearing up for Hayden's next surgery, the Fontan Completion. We will be getting s surgery date shortly. Most likely the early part of April.
And so, the ball is rolling. Again.
I'll start making lists just as soon as we have a date:-) I'd better put that on my list...

Whoa, It's Winter
Winter is upon us and we haven't blogged in a while. We had a fabulous winter break full of the traditional Chrismukkah celebration. You know, spinning dreidels, decorating trees, talking about Macabees, eating candy canes, frying latkes, giving and receiving presents. Nothing confusing at all. Hayden did have a very well-thought out fear of Santa. He pretty much thought of Santa's arrival in our house, via chimney, as a home invasion. He just didn't get why " that guy" would just come into our house. He also mentioned " not liking anything he says or how he looks". Apparently, ho, ho, ho, offends the boy. However, the presents seems to decrease his fears.
We spent break, skiing, going to the aquarium, purchasing a new fish; Shiny Tail Lazorchak, cleaning out closets, hanging new exterior lights and visiting with many of our friends and family.
So, we are back to the grind of school and work. ( school being work for some of us!) We are hoping for a BIG snow and a great ski season for the boys. ( I'll just take photos and drink hot toddies).
Happy Winter to all:-

And so it goes
We haven't posted for a while. Things have settled down from the surgery/no surgery debacle of October. So many of you have been kind and asked if we are OK. We are just fine. The surgery is inevitable, but we are back to our regular hectic life until then. ( School, work, school that is work, Terps games, parties, holidays, cooking, cleaning (lady), shopping, making lists, singing to the BeeGees, running ( Rob), running ( my mouth) etc.)
With Thanksgiving being this week, we are Thankful for the obvious, wine. No, really, we are Thankful for Hayden, your love and support and our amazing doctors. Hayden has informed us that he is thankful for Mommy and Daddy. He will not expand his thankfulness to any other arena. Toys? Nope. Our house? Naw. Food? Uhuh. The MD basketball team? Maybe. He has told me that I should be Thankful for him and Daddy. Period. End of discussion. I have asked if I can be thankful for others things. He doesn't think so. My shoes, perhaps? ( I say this to him in a pleading voice) " Mom, you are such a girl." And so, yes, life is back to "normal" for the Lazorchaks.
Gobble, Gobble to you and yours from us and ours:-)

Surgery rescheduled till Spring. Stinking cold.
Hayden developed a cold Sunday night and Monday, still coughing today so we decided to reschedule his surgery until the Spring some time. Stinking germs. :(
Next step a January Cardiology visit and than to reschedule his surgery once the fall/winter germs get cleared up a bit. (Sure Ali will post other stuff, but thats for that for now.
Oh well back to living a normal life again for a few more months.
At least we got to Vote early. Guess we have to buy some Halloween candy now.

Surgery Scheduled
Hayden's surgery is scheduled for 10/27, with a pre-op on 10/24. EEK!!! That is SO soon. I am making mad lists (as I do). Lists for home, lists for school, cancelling things, rescheduling things, worried about not being able to vote, holding the mail, etc. Planning, planning, planning. Generally speaking, I am spinning in circles at record breaking speed.
All that aside, we are glad to get a date so soon. Attempting to stay away from all winter hospital illnesses.
Off to spin some more;-)

Why I love Hayden
I tell Hayden that I love him at least one hundred times a day. He often replies with, "I love you too, Mom." Lately, he has also taken to replying with,"Why?" I usually give him one or two reasons before he loses interest in that conversation and starts another. I thought I'd keep a list of my reasons.
I love Hayden because: he can always make me smile, he is strong, he is sassy, he is smart, he is creative, he likes to sing loudly even if he doesn't know the words, he likes to wear a chef's hat and apron while cooking with me, he tells jokes and laughs by saying HA!HA! at his own punch line, he vacums after eating a snack or dinner, he asks for kisses when his mouth is covered in leftover chocolate, he thinks he is an olympic swimmer in the bathtub, he cheers just like his Dad ( sans cursing) for the Redskins and all things Terp, he knows what a shopping kiss is and gives me one everytime we shop together, he can bust a rhyme, he sometimes keeps money in his sock (while it is on his foot), every night he looks for the moon and stars, he thinks I am pretty and tells me so, he likes to play with my hair, he loves to have picnics in our family room, he says " I don't think so" in a sing songy voice when asked to do something he doesn't want to do, he repeatedly asks me why I am so short, he thinks he is tall, he is silly, he loves music and dancing, he loves to read books, he is a fighter, he can give himself his own meds., he loves spicy food and often smells of garlic, his is more talkative than I am, he loves to snuggle before bed, his favorite animal is a zebra, he enjoys practicing yoga but yells Namaste like a ninja, he is sweet and loving, he once rubbed my back while I was throwing up, his is one of my boys, he likes lisening to BNL/Bee Gee's/Simon and Garfunkle, he is intuitive and tough, he is my little love.
