The Biggest Gainer

I realize that my last post wasn't exactly about Hayden, but it was advice he could use...one day.
Last night Hayden reached a post-operative milestone. I'll explain.
In our house, we are playing a game called " The Biggest Gainer". It is similar , in theory, to the popular " reality" show, the Biggest Loser. ( aka the BIG Fatties, as they are referred to by my dear friend ,who will remain anonymous, lest she be judged for criticizing the morbidly obese). Our game is a bit different. The goal is to gain weight, not lose it. ( Hayden, not Rob and I) The week is difficult; trying to suck down breakfast, 2 snacks, lunch, 2-3 snacks, dinner and dessert. It is a challenge that few could meet. ( Althought, those on cruise ship vacations usually do quite well with this challenge)In our home version, Hayden gets on the scale each Monday evening, naked. (We are skipping the team colored sports bra and matching shorts; it is the home version.) As the numbers come up on the scale, we hold our breath, hoping for significant weight gain. ( Fade to commercial for dramtic effect. I sing somethimg catchy.).
Last night was a real cliff hanger, would Hayden, who was down 10% of his body weight, reach the goal of his pre-op weight? Would he gain any weight? Oh, the drama of it all.
Fade back in and focus on the scale. Numbers spinning. Next, a shot of our faces, agonizing over the numbers. And, finally, the weekly weight appears. Did he gain?? YES! Hayden is back to his pre-op weight. Skinny, but not skinnier.
This was not a season finale. The game continues next week. Who knows, he might reach 30lbs by the time he turns 5 in 5 weeks!

Aside from gaining weight, he is also gaining stregnth and stamina. He has a sparkle in his eye and is back to being a chatty guy.( He is yelling " Come, on!" to the imaginary Terps basketball team that plays on the imaginary court in our kitchen.)He is also sleeping, peacefully, at night.

Before I say something about The Biggest Gainer, I'd like to clear the air about the wine.
I must confess it is I who put the red wine in the refrigerator and it was I who put the sweetener in the wine.
I was trying a more expensive wine this Passover. Someone I won't mention her name didn't like what I always serve.
I'm going back to my favorite, Manishewitz Red Cream Concord for $4.00 a bottle.
As for the BIGGEST GAINER, Go Hayden...What a great job you are doing. Keep up the Great Eating.
We, Grammy and Pop, are so proud of you.
We Love You so much.
Huggs and Kisses...
